Christopher E.
Ware, Michigan 1995, and Laura Gramling Perez, Michigan 1996,
are the 2007 recipients of the Hon. Charles Dunn Author Award, presented
annually by
the State Bar Communications Committee.
They are being honored for their
article "Main Street Meets Wall Street: The
Mortgage Meltdown" (Dec. 2007). In selecting their article,
the Dunn award
subcommittee said: "This is a very easy to understand and
comprehensive article covering a
complicated and important issue from all sides. It is an
excellent summary of a very
large and potentially complex problem facing many homeowners. It
is well researched and
the authors' expertise is very apparent." |

Ware and Gramling Perez are litigation shareholders at Reinhart Boerner
Van
Deuren s.c., Milwaukee, and cochair the firm's securitized mortgage and
loan fraud team.

The Dunn award, named after Wisconsin's first chief justice,
recognizes
writing excellence in Wisconsin Lawyer articles. The award will
be presented at the
Volunteer Lawyers Recognition program, held during the State Bar's
Annual Convention, on May
7, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., Madison.

Elizabeth A. Neary, Marquette 1983, for providing a road map to
the legal challenges and complexities attorneys face in
helping parents and children find normalcy and stability in sometimes
very troubling

Placement" (Sept. 2007). She is a partner with Grady, Hayes &
Neary LLC, Waukesha.
Hugh R. Braun, Michigan 1956, for the excellent analysis of the
U.S. Supreme Court decision
in Kelo v. City of New London and how it applies to Wisconsin
eminent domain cases, in "Wisconsin's Response to Condemnation
for Economic Development" (Sept. 2007). He
