    Corporation Counsel

    ​We are now accepting applications for a full-time Corporation Counsel. As Corporation Counsel your role is the primary legal and administrative counsel for Vilas County. Corporation Counsel is responsible for prosecuting civil actions on behalf of the public, including guardianships, protective placements, mental health commitments, child support enforcement, CHIPS, JIPS, and TPR petitions, county ordinance violations, and any other action involving the County. Other job duties include negotiating, drafting, and reviewing contracts; drafting resolutions, ordinances, and other documents; and advising the County Board, committees, and departments on open meetings, public records, and ethics laws.

    Qualifications: Licensed to practice law in the State of Wisconsin. A minimum of one to three years’ experience as either a government attorney or a private attorney with government clients preferred and with a significant practice in several or all of the following areas of government law: child support collection and paternity, guardianship/protective placement, juvenile, involuntary civil commitments and zoning. Experience in investigation and interviewing desirable.
