    Hon. Elizabeth Pfeuffer

    The Hon. Elizabeth M. Pfeuffer is a court commissioner for the Kenosha County Circuit Court in Wisconsin. She was appointed to the bench by the judges of the circuit court in 2017.  

    Prior to her appointment, Pfeuffer was a managing member of the Pfeuffer Law Firm, a practice she joined in 2013. Before that, she spent time as an associate at Rizzo & Diersen (2012 to 2013) as well as an associate professor of legal studies at Concordia University Wisconsin (2006 to 2012). 

    Pfeuffer earned a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science and criminal justice from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1995. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Virginia School of Law in 1998.  

    After graduating from law school, Pfeuffer began her legal career as a deputy district attorney for the Denver County District Attorney’s Office. She served in that capacity until 2001, at which time she entered into private practice at Ruegsegger Simons Smith & Stern. She handled employment, workers’ compensation, family, criminal defense, guardianships, juvenile, and civil matters.  

    Her memberships have included the Preliminary Review Committee of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. She has also been involved with the Kenosha County Judicial Engagement Team, the Kenosha County Courthouse Security Committee, the Kenosha County Bar Association, and the Kenosha Women’s Network.  

    Pfeuffer was a resident of Somers, Wisconsin, at the time of her appointment. She attended Tremper High School.  ​
